DRESSTASTIC: NEW YEAR'S EVE

It's the last holiday of the season and perhaps the most fabulous! I'm always somewhat disappointed by the New Year's Eve celebration build up, but one thing I can count on is any good excuse to dress up and wear something sparkly. Sequin, feather, leather, or lace, it's fun and festive. All I need to be happy is a great dress and a glass of champs. Make it Veuve Clicquot, add a cute guy and instantly, it surpasses all my expectations.

SAVE WATER, DRINK CHAMPAGNE!

P.S. Be safe, be fabulous, keep it chic ;)

RESORT WONDERFUL

{ Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in Antibes, France  Photo by Slim Aarons }
If I could snap my finger and appear somewhere magically on vacation it would most definitely be this amazing pool scene captured by the classic lifestyle photographer, Slim Aarons at Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in the south of France. As much as I love the holiday season and all the cold weather festivities, I just can't help but swoon over the resort wear collections every year and even more so the breathtaking resorts their respective inspiration comes from. Unfortunately, I have no resort wearing destinations in my calendar this year, but hopefully in the next. In the meantime, a girl can dream, and I found some absolutely lovely things, even if just for a look. Enjoy!

I always love fun, bright colors and whites in the summer, and it's no different for resort wear. How adorable is the tassel action on the back of this coverup? Havaianas are my year round flip flops, inside and out of the house and I prefer the sleek slim fit. When it comes to bikinis (and really any clothing item) white is always in style! The Marysia scalloped bikini was so popular the last few summers but I'd consider the white option a worthy investment. Sail to Sable makes great tunics that just scream 'east coast summering' and I would consider them perfectly appropriate for any beach vacation.

Bikini season or not, I have always kept my waxing routine the same. Every month, even in the winter, and hard wax only at Frilly Lilly! I love how great their aftercare roll-on works to keep away ingrown hairs and irritation. The more consistent my appointments stay, the easier my skin has adjusted. And for anyone traveling, make sure to get waxed a few days before all the time under sun and hot tubs!

More drool worthy destinations, below!
The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida }
The Four Seasons Bora Bora in Bora Bora, Tahiti }
Cousine Island, Seychelles }
Amanbagh in Rajasthan, India }
{ St. Regis Punta Mita in Nayarit, Mexico

Dreaming of a white beach holiday, this holiday.

Happy Holidaying!

GIFT GUIDE: FOR HER

Well, the holidays are in full swing! Hanukkah went quick and Christmas is around the corner - thought I'd add some last minute gifts for the lady in your life that I am currently obsessing over. As always, I love good old stationary and this adorable illustration desk calendar truly takes the cake. I'm counting down the seconds until January 1st hits and if someone hasn't bought it for me by then I will just have to purchase it myself. Every winter I crave a good sweater, this year I wore my first piece of cashmere and as pretentious as this may sound I really don't think I can settle for less now; fortunately, this Calypso one is on sale. I was standing in line at Caffe Luxxe when I couldn't help but swoon over this calendar with illustrations from cities all over the world. I realize there are two calendar items on this list but can you blame me? So cute and perfect for ethically obsessed.

Frilly Lilly's body butter is the perfect remedy for dry skin and cold weather. I'm also loving the lavender scent, which I heard is also helpful for reducing stress? As an avid admirer of the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel I am pleased to find an afternoon tea as one of the best experincial gifts a girly girl can receive. Talk about an afternoon well spent.

Happy Shopping,

HOLIDAZED: MOVIE NIGHT

When the sun goes down, the nights get colder, and the snow makes going out seem impossible, a little movie night in will hit the spot. Although it can get warm this time of year in LA, I still crave a warm fire, a good movie and a classic hot chocolate. Here's a list of all my winter season favorites, along with some cozy, cold weather, goodies (that would also make a good gifts too). Enjoy!

Happy December, let's get holidazed!

GIFT GUIDE: FOR HER

More shopping for the holiday season, hope you enjoy my second gift guide for her!

Let the shopping craze begin!

MONTANA AVE HOLIDAY WALK

It's the most wonderful time of the year; parties, family, friends, gifts, giving, food, festivities, generalized merriness, and the MONTANA AVENUE HOLIDAY WALK. It's a night of fun on one my favorite streets in Los Angeles, where almost every shop stays open and celebrates the season with festive drinks, goodies, and good sales. Rumor has it Santa tends to show up too. So in the spirit of the holiday season, here's you're shopping guide, one lovely stop on my favorite Montana Avenue at a time. See you December 4th, 5-9pm. Cheers!
Holiday parties, Friendsgiving's, and family gatherings all tend to involve amazing food and a good dessert goes a long way! After hearing the cherry pie at Sweet Lady Jane was on Oprah's list of favorite things, it was a no-brainer contribution, and if I may say total crowd pleaser, at my co-worker's Friendsgiving! They have quite the array of baked goodies for any occasion or just a sweet treat for yourself and busy to do list!
Before any good shopping run I always make sure to stop and get a good caffeine buzz. Caffe Luxxe is one of the best places to do that, with the most delectable selection of latte's, espresso and treats.
Couldn't resist a little chocolate croissant and americana pick me up!
One of my favorite accessory shops happens to also be my go to place for waxing too. The front of Frilly Lilly's beauty boutique on Montana is full of gorgeous baubles, perfect for stocking stuffers and as an addition to any holiday party outfit. I'm obsessed with the gold statement necklace (pictured above)!
All of the wax care/beauty/bath products are top notch and beautifully packaged, that's the winning combination in my book! I particularly love the Argentinean lemon collection, how cute are these mason jars with all the minis from the lemon inspired line? But if you can only pick one, my favorite is the scrub and the lip butter
Williams Sonoma never disappoints and has become a staple for celebrating the holidays. They also have the best peppermint bark, which they tend to give out at the holiday walk. This year, I am obsessing over copper cookware. Despite the fact that I tend to rely on take out and the microwave, I really think a set of beautiful copper pans would ignite my inner top chef, or at the very least, instill some kitchen confidence!
One of my favorite gifts I have ever received was a super soft hotel robe with my monogram. This year, maybe I need some sweet pajamas to match and Sleepy Jones has some uber soft and comfy selections!
Good shopping sessions tend require frequent breaks, meals and snacks, especially when shopping for other people! Art's Table is a perfect quick lunch spot, the tana cobb really hit the spot, delicious but light. I honestly never thought I'd crave a salad so much, but if I could I'd have it every day for lunch.
The gift of good hair will always be in vogue, but I just love the fun that comes along with it at Drybar (a coffee, glass of wine, fun movies & gossip). Also another easy stop before all those holiday parties starting up. Don't forget to treat yourself too!
As always, a good hostess gift goes a long way and I personally love receiving flowers for any occasion, especially after having company over. It's the gift that keeps pretty for a few days and there's something really precious about that. I've found Whole Foods to make some of the prettiest bouquets, particularly the one I posted awhile back on Instagram here and conveniently located right in the center of Montana Avenue.
Celebrations would be nothing without some festive decor to get everyone in the holiday spirit and Stephanie Grace is the place to truly deck those halls and hang the mistletoe. A leader in design for events and weddings, they have the best selection to make a home merry and bright.
When in doubt, head to Brentwood General Store, the one stop shop for all the goodies, linens, candy, & gourmet food. They have tons of adorable home goods perfect for stocking stuffers, hostess gifts and entertaining supplies. A long time resident at my one of my favorite places, the Brentwood Country Mart, the general store is now in a larger space with even more to offer on Montana Avenue.
One major task I find every year around this time is finding the perfect holiday attire for all the festive parties and of course New Year's Eve. Despite my usual pre-occupation with anything that sparkles, I am even more inclined to go all out around this time of year, aka, say yes to the sequin, fur, metallics, and shimmer. And Jane seems to have it all, at a particularly good price point too, all pieces under $98. Now that's something to be merry about.
And at the end of long shopping day on Montana, I highly recommend a glass of champs, along with the best pasta at Forma. The pasta is not only hand made, but then polished off in a cheese wheel for your enjoyment. The result is delicious and I highly recommend the chicken meatballs, broccolini, polenta fondue, spaghetti 'cacio e peppe', filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce as well as any combination of all the great cheeses offered.
I hope you enjoyed all my favorite places to get 'holidazed' on Montana Avenue. Don't forget to stop by the Holiday Walk on Friday, December 4th, from 5-9pm and partake in all the festivities!

Cheers,

Xx, Monica

GIFT GUIDE: FOR HIM

Now back to the boys, a gift guide for all the great guys out there. Not to pick favorites, but how cool is this beer making kit? I don't even drink beer but the idea of making it in my kitchen like an at home science project just seems so cool! I love all the Larsson and Jennings watches, but the stripes seem to really stand out, along with a bold and clean blackface. Moscow mules are amongst my favorite cocktails and Williams Sonoma literally read my mind with this gift set

Call me old fashioned, but I just love a vintage looking item with modern utility, like this Gramophone speaker for music off your iPhone and the barbershop like shaving set. A leather bound agenda will never be replaced by a Google or Outlook calendar and if you're going to go with paper, you can't discount the lust worthy Smythson. Still waiting for my own, but don't worry, I have an awesome and more economically sound version I use here (with a monogram option of course) that I love too.

Well, I haven't made it quite yet to the infamous Ralph's Coffee Shop (and Polo Bar) but it's definitely a top priority on my next trip to New York City. Until then this adorably packaged ground coffee will have to suffice and is sure to make a great gift for any caffeine junkie like myself!

Happy Holiday Shopping,

Cheers,

Xx, Monica

GIFT GUIDE: FOR HER

Tis' the season, let the gift guides begin! Many to come here at Gisele Chic but starting with some of my personal favorites this year. As always I am obsessing over the wonderful prints from Gray Malin. This particular shot taken at the uber chic mini bar tucked inside the Parker Palm Springs. My french 75 didn't come with a cute little monkey during my last visit, but the beautiful green marble and preppy bartender left quite a good impression. The only thing that would have made it more memorable is if they had employed these golden pineapple tumblers to keep it cool, #barcartneccisity!

It may not be picnic season again quite yet, but a hamper of goodies from Fortnum and Mason is an appropriate indulgence all year round and with many variations to choose from, my favorite being the "ladies basket" complete with chocolate truffles and all the makings for a proper G&T. Champs is always a good idea, but you really cannot go wrong with Veuve Clicquot, and after this year's Polo Classic, I'm all about the Rosé.

50 degree weather in Los Angeles is enough to warrant the need for a great coat and I love this navy parka! I love the combination of the casual parka and super luxe fur, even better in this green

Let the holiday shopping begin, more to come soon!
