CLASSIC CHIC: LEOPARD ACCENTS

#leopard
{image credit}
For this edition of Classic Chic, I would like to divert attention to a trend turned contemporary, leopard will forever be relevant to personal style in some capacity, whether it's a jacket, shoe, belt or bag, it always comes back before it really ever left...enjoy!

Above all other colors, I think orange compliments this pattern the best, I LOVE her pointy pumps (above) as well as the orange lampshade with this sweet leopard chair (below)...orange and neutrals work every time...

I like when leopard is preppy, like how she wore a leopard coat with a white and navy striped top and navy pants (above), very cute!
YSL
{ysl leopard pumps}
The easiest way to add in this trend without overdoing it is with accessories! These YSL pumps are to die for (above) and I love Katherine Heigl's leopard bag (below) with her causal day outfit, that is my favorite way to wear the trend!
{katherine heigl} {old navy leopard belt} {elle décor}
Pink and leopard is often tacky together but not here (below), this makes me want some awesome leopard flats! I would also like a chair in the pattern as well!

HONORED STYLE: OSCARS BEST

{louise roe}
The Oscars are about film but feature tons of fashion, the idea is to keep Hollywood glamorous and these women knocked it out!

TV host Louise Roe (above) looked amazing in a tailored Black Halo gown, this dress was a big risk to take, with so many layers of fabric, cut in varying edges, and with a suit like top is not an easy design to fabricate, nonetheless wear, A plus, plus!
{kristen wiig 1} {2}

Kristen Wiig (above) has been playing it neutral all season long on the red carpet, but I love it! She is staying true to who she is and I love how her look is so natural and fresh, she is one of the smartest and most talented comedians right now and is beautiful in J Mendel, what a pretty gown!
{giuliana rancic}

Once again newscaster Giuliana Rancic takes over in Basil Soda, it reminds me a bit of the Rodarte ballerina costumes in Black Swan; Giuliana has never looked more sophisticated, she owns this dress!
{stacy keibler}

I had mixed feelings about Stacy Keibler's gold wrapped Marchesa gown; it seemed very bold and almost too shiny, but I have to give credit to the design, adding in this knotted fabric formed flower must have taken a lot of time and great attention to detail, very nice!

{brad pitt and angelina jolie}
Where do I begin on this one? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are hands down the most chic looking couple I have ever seen, they just look great in anything, at anytime...Brad wears Tom Ford so well, perfectly dapper and how sweet that they match? Angelina gave new meaning to the term va va voom, in a black velvet Atlelier Versace gown with the highest slit I have ever seen, one that only she could pull off! This is the Angelina I like to see...something tells me I am not alone!
{jessica chastain 1} {2}
Jessica Chastain (above) is fashion forward in Alexander McQueen, I like how she took a red carpet look in a more edgy and fashionable direction rather then sticking to the ethereal glamour most prevalent at award shows, I like how the gown looks with her strawberry-blonde hair, she looks very young and sweet, love it!
{gwyneth paltrow}
Gwyneth Paltrow (above) always stuns in minimalist looks, I like how modern and simple this Tom Ford gown and cape is on her, if anyone can pull off a cape it is Gwyneth, this would have been too safe without it...
{meryl streep}
The golden girl of the night (above), academy award winner, Meryl Streep made this night her own, so humble and genuine in accepting her award and also making a grand entrance in a glitzy, gold Lanvin gown, reminds me of why I like her so much...
{emma stone}
Surprisingly not many women wore red this year, but Emma Stone pulled off the bold statement of color in a red Giambattista Valli gown, despite it's resemblance to Nicole Kidman's 2007 gown, I still like it! It's classic, like a black strapless, bows are wonderful!!!

FASHION IN FILM: THE TOURIST

{the tourist}
The Tourist is one of my favorite films, not just because it takes place in my country of choice, Italy, but also because the costume design was  absolutely stunning, refreshing, and made the thriller absolutely irresistible!

Of course lead Angelina Jolie has that quality in every film, she is undoubtably soft, sophisticated, and glamorous in this wonderfully feminine look...
{the tourist}
My favorite aspect is this awesome shall, designed exclusively by costume designer Colleen Atwood, all the neutrals work well together, especially with the addition of this pretty coral sash, great work!
{the tourist}
Oh Angelina,

COVERGIRL

{vogue paris}
Stunning color, what a suit! This is one overly glamourous one-piece that only a French Vogue model could pull off! Who says costume jewelry isn't appropriate for the pool? Not me!
{vogue paris}
Pretty, pretty blue! Electric and exotic, way to make a frilly dress sexy!
{harper's bazaar brazil}
Only Gisele could pull this one off and with barely any makeup! She is flawless on the cover of her own country's Bazaar!
{vanity fair}

CURRENTLY CRAVING: CAP TO TOE

It's been a crazy weekend, but I am back to blogging, this time with a top trend I have fully indulged in myself, how cute are these metallic cap toe shoes?? So sweet and simple, enjoy!

Gold goes with everything!
{lanvin}
A warmer alternative to peep toe pumps! These flats are great with jeans and the pumps are perfect for work...
Pinned Image
{preppy cap toe pump}
Essentially these shoes are preppy, they remind me of the "domino" shoes my little sister wore as a child,  in black and white, the cap toe trend comes back every once in a while...

These are the ones I ended up with (above), I absolutely love them! Sam Edelman made the sandals I wore all last summer, every shoe from the brand is well made, comfortable and classic, very nice!

HONORED STYLE: SOPHISTICATED PRINTS

{image credit}
Beautiful prints are pivotal to Spring fashion! Here are some street style examples I love...

Adding a fun blouse with a leather skirt, shorts, or pants amps it up notch (above), the thin stripy sandals are great too! Metallic footwear is quite flattering...
{image credit}
A white blouse looks great with anything (above), but even better with a pretty print, the easiest and safest way to go!
{image credit}
A credit to wearing color with a pattern (above), this purple is skirt is so feminine and pretty, I believe adding color is totally worth the risk... Otherwise, stick with black and white...
{image credit}
{image credit}
This is color-blocking with a pattern (above), it works here because nothing is too overpowering, the colors mesh well since they are in the same family but in varying hues, love, love...
{image credit}
My favorite (above); everyone needs a well fitted white blazer! Every aspect of this outfit works, the sandals are subtle and summery, the purple clutch adds the perfect pop of color, and white looks so good with floral prints, I want this dress!

Pretty prints please,

-M. Gisele

HOLIDAZED: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Pinned Image
{the notebook}

All I can say, is have a sweet day! Some think The Notebook is cheesy, I think it's sweet, call me a hopeless romantic, no shame on Valentine's Day!

Now that's true love,

Happy Valentine's Day!

DREAM ESTATE: A BRAND IN REAL LIFE

{image credit}

Can you imagine calling this heaven on a roof home? Well whimsical and bohemian chic designer Diane Von Furstenberg can! She seems to truly live the lifestyle she has branded and trust me, it looks like a great one!

Her NYC home (above) takes the word "penthouse" to a whole new level, literally, it sits atop the building that houses her studio and brand's headquarters...talk about an easy walk to work...
{1} {2} {3} {4}
A few picks from her pre-Fall 2012 collection (above), DVF always manages to incorporate colorful prints into every season, this one is full of short school-esque skirts paired with sheer to the knee nylons...I am not big on the leather glove accessory but perhaps by fall it will have grown on me, trends have a way of doing that...
{image credit}
In the dining area, DVF takes from all of nature's most glamorous elements; the carpet is extremely bold but nonetheless keeps everything else cohesive, I think the open glass walls allow the room to remain balanced..the zebra chairs are one of a kind, I can't imagine pulling them off with any other kind of wood, the glass table shows off a pretty gold tree trunk base, so nice! And last but perhaps most important; nothing completes a space like your own an Andy Warhol painting! Amazing finishing touch!
{dvf clutch}
A turquoise DVF clutch, I would take one of these in any color!

Her living/workspace (below); there is no better desk than a giant table! Especially one with so many colors and flowers, love it!
{image credit}
{1} {2} {3} {4} {5}
Some of my favorites from her Spring 2012 line (above), her clothes are simply pieces of art; the prints modern but the shapes are familiar, wonderfully done!
{image credit}
Her bedroom (above) is positioned at the very top, closest to the stars and with the most beautiful New York skyline! A bamboo canopy can shut out all of the city light! How ironic that light is probably one of the most desirable natural resources in this city, nonetheless, this room is nothing short of whimsical!
{dvf opal wedge}
Love the wedge (above) very simple, extremely practical for this warm, LA weather!
{image credit}
And lastly, a sweet master bath, I am sure this was custom made, it's so beautiful! Despite the four different wood styles, I love how this came together, absolutely original...
