DREAM ESTATE: COLOR BLOCK

I found the interior of this Chicago home on Traditional Home magazine's website and instantly fell in love! Not just because it is my hometown city of Chicago, but also because the color blocking is amazing!

Creating a space that incorporates orange, purple and seafoam sounds almost ridiculous, however, nothing is ridiculous when done right; anything is possible!
The interior decorator, Melanie Elston, created a fun and slightly spunky color palate in a really traditional sense; the moldings, furniture, and flooring have been given a wonderful flair with the bold colors and eclectic fabric prints...
Purple and Orange are not colors I have ever attempted to mix; I adore them separately, but I have never thought to put them together, however, this chair (above right) is so cool with the velvet orange inside cushions and violet paisley print exterior, all bound together with a classic nailhead trim, love it!

I don't really understand why I like the entryway between the orange sitting room and seafoam sitting room, but I do...the colors are so completely different but somehow it works (above, left)...
The seafoam sitting room (above) is cool, fit for a cocktail party; love the Missoni-esque fabric on the sitting chairs...
I adore this portion of the seafoam sitting room (above, left)...it is simple and chic, the silver, blue and green easily compliment one another and the lucite side tables and velvet sofa with fringe detailing add the perfect amount of luxe...

This clock and country wallpaper combination is original and a certainly a risk taker that proved right! A nice transition into the hallway and darker walls of the home....

Color Love,
