THE PINK CURE

It may be the last day of breast cancer awareness month, but certainly not the last day of the struggle to find a cure for breast cancer. As the granddaughter of a women defeated by breast cancer, the cause will always be near my heart...

Here are some pink inspired paintings that I hope can remind us the end of this disease is near, but the everlasting strength within those who have fought for themselves, others and the future will always be remembered...

[pink strip cloud by Bridgette Bogle]

I love the color in this painting, its bold and original and crowded, perhaps representing the chaos in saving natural resources for the future. Either way, very original, crisp, and makes a statement, everything I love

[synergistic happiness by William Mercado]

What attracted me to this painting was the resemblance to Pucci's classic prints, however I also have come to like the place each character has in the scene, just like everyone in the world....

[knightmare by Katherine Troisi]
I can see why this work is titled nightmare, layers and layers of intricate weaving, does it symbolize the complexity of emotions, or a web of lies? I think its the product of instant communication created by technology, whether it is a good thing or bad is perhaps in the eye of the beholder...

[circus by Nicole Asendorf]
The texture makes me happy, enlightened by so many pretty blues, pinks, and tints of yellow. True artistry at the hands....

[landscape part VII by Colette Wirz]

Usually I am not a fan landscape art, but this one is abstract enough for my taste...

[early spring by Kristen Spencer]

Another character icon for me, the undeniably stylish Carrie Bradshaw in the look that iconized her personality for ever...a tank and a tutu, now that is fashion freedom

STREET CHIC

Fashion designers will always be displaying artwork on the runway with each line collectively, but how those pieces are interpreted individually speaks volumes for what it represents.

Fashion provides the paint and canvas, but STYLE is the masterpiece in the end...

Lately I have been leaning towards simple, black dominated, ensembles and I think its because I am trying to transcend from Summer to Fall still...

Black is done best with a pop of color, this one (above) works well!

I like the simplicity of this look, denim jeans, a white top, and a black jacket are just easy and always fresh looking, always my go to for lazy days...

I love the black shorts with black tights look, makes black summer shoes and shorts accessible for fall and winter!

Love the color!

It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny...

FOUR LETTERS

A film titled, Like Crazy, is opening tomorrow in mass theaters. Having been shown at the 2011 Sundance Film festival, director Drake Dermus gained some notoriety by winning the Grand Jury Prize for the film and after seeing the preview I am quite interested...

Based off of the trailer itself, the plot is not clearly defined, however that is actually what intrigues me most about independent and art films, because for me it is all about how visual content captures me emotionally, via the progression of images from frame to frame...

The romance has been made clear to me, the story is simply just another detail...

Emotions don't always have words...

A SUR THING

This past weekend my girlfriends and I stumbled across this sweet, sexy, small hotspot in West Hollywood...

With food described as "Mediterranean-Californian," the eclectic menu SUR-passed my expectations...

Owned by a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple, Lisa and Ken Vanderpump, the design of this space is evidence of their well-traveled taste...

The dinning area is has simple white slipcovered furniture, is dimly lit, and is accented with fresh flowers and vintage candles, a decor style which I can only describe as "gothic romance"

The newest addition to Sur, is this beautiful lounge area, with an accompanying patio that has an indescribable allure at night, perhaps like many LA hotspots, the green shrubbery covered walls and white holiday lights just do it for me...so pretty!

Loving the worn in vintage look of the leather couch, especially with the nailhead accents, and simple recycled tweed pillows, we all know Lisa can do glamour, I am glad to see it toned down a bit...

Wish I had this patio in my non-existent yard...

Simple glamour is the best kind...

HONORED STYLE

This past Sunday night was my friend's last night visiting Los Angeles, so Emma and I took her to the famous Rodeo Drive.....

We saw the set up for Rodeo Drive's Walk of Style Awards, however the pink carpet and step and repeat in front of the flagship Missoni store did not seem to spark our interest enough to stay...

What terrible judgement! Missoni, my favorite Italian Designer, was honored for it's major contribution to the progression of Fashion as an art, as well as supermodel Iman

Gabrielle Union

The look of the night is a close tie between Gabrielle Union (above) and Alessandra Ambrosio (below), but hands down, Gabrielle's orange ombre, classically patterned, Missoni gown is cool, bright, and is the essence of carefree California style...

Alessandra Ambrosio

The detail in the beading says it all...the wonderful color is just an added bonus...love, love

Nicky Hilton

These two look hand made! Talk about attention to detail...

Alexis Bledel

Terri Seymour

Just like Alessandra's gown, the beading speaks loud and clear..I am so glad to see ombre is here to stay (at least for now)

The honorees of the night, Margherita Missoni and Iman both looked stunning of course

Already missing Missoni...

CHIC OF THE WEEK

Today I wore my faux fur vest with a navy striped sweater, I was somewhat skeptical but it proved to be one of my favorite outfits....despite what others might have thought

I will always love fur, as long as its faux!

Here is some GISELE CHIC inspiration....

By far my favorite fur look! So simply chic and clean! Just the right touch of luxe with the fur wrap, soft black leather handbag, and velvety suede peep toe pumps..(I have a very similar pair and LOVE them!) The black tights make these shoes Fall fashion ready..can't wait to emulate this look!

Ashley Olsen looks like a goddess in this princess, ethereal, sheer tooled gown. The jacket adds the the right amount of bold to balance it out...instant sophistication

I love how brown fur vests look so clean with white; either a blouse or dress, just overall easy

These boots could easily look tacky if done wrong, and probably are hard to pair with bolder outfits...I love the look here but don't think I would invest in the trend

This is the look I sported towards the end of my semester abroad in Verona, a fur vest and Uggs (mine were rolled over exposing the sheepskin) I am not positive it would go over well in the States, but the image brings back fond memories of fashion freedom!

I have a white fur vest sitting in my closet with the tag still on...I just need a nice white blouse with a soft print like this (above)! Great inspiration!

As a fan of emerald green, I would totally condone this use of color, especially since it's small and compliments the black

Wish I could pull this look off without looking over indulged...this is one of those "Olsen exclusive" looks....

At the end of the day, fur can give an edge to style, boho chic looks like these make me feel like a Rockstar...
