HOLIDAZED: A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello! New Years marks the close of the Holiday season and brings with it hope for the New Year...I am happy to say 2011 has made a wonderful impact on my life and given me amazing new experiences I will undoubtedly cherish forever!

I would like to thank two people for this, one of which is my mother, whose birthday happens to land right on the 1st of the New Year, and appropriately fits, seeing as she inspires me to move forward with each day and give's me hope for a better new year, full of resolutions!

I would also like to thank my very best friend, Emma, who inspired many wonderful things in my life this year, one of which being the creation of GISELE CHIC and also my move out here to the lovely Los Angeles...cheers to a friendship that has withstand adolescence, and all the folly that comes long with it, high school drama, college life, family ties, sorority ties, boyfriends, time abroad, and now, young adulthood for 9 whole years! We have spent every New Years's Eve by each other's side since meeting, and it is safe to say we are "still climbing a wall" to what the future holds!
[My best friend Emma and I: New Year's Eve 2006-2011]
I would also like to thank another love of mine, Champagne: Thank you Champagne for keeping me bubbly, sophisticated, and always relevant, all year long, hehe...A toast to Champagne...

CLASSIC CHIC: THE WHITE BLOUSE

Pinned Image
[image via because i'm addicted blog]
One item I am always on the hunt for, often times without an awareness, is the perfect white blouse...Whenever I see one, it catches my eye quickly and I most often will grab it before it's lost...finding one seems so easy, yet it so very challenging...thank god it will always remain in style...
Of course, it goes best with bright color! Nothing like white to balance bold colors...
And camel with white is certainly classic...

And dresses up something trendy, like this metallic print skirt (above)...

Simple with black slacks...tucked in, let out...

And a sexy with the top few un-buttoned...

Leave it to Kate Moss to amp up simplicity...

HONORED STYLE: BEST OF 2011

Towards the end of each year it is always nice to remember the best, move past the worst, and look forward to the future; therefore I am highlighting some of my picks for best dressed this year, as well as hoping for a very stylish, new year...

Stunning in neutrals, Michelle Williams (above, left) looks wonderful in a Chanel gown that fits her so well...perfect for her petite frame and pixie cut....Kirsten Dunst, (center) also in Chanel, looks just the like the indie film princess she is, in a sweet, billowy dress, made trendy with the sheer, tool overlay...star on the rise Emma Roberts (right) is fresh faced and glamorous in a short, ethereal cocktail dress by Julien MacDonald...
Pretty Pastels! I absolutely adore this boho chic, mint/seafoam-esque gown on model Ana Beatriz Barros (above, left)...Hilary Rhoda (center) looks colorful and comfortable in this silky maxi skirt, paired with a casual grey sweater, so effortless...Mila Kunis in this wanderlust lace, violet gown was hands down my favorite look on the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards, like I have said many times, Elie Saab can do no wrong!
Colorful cocktails and cocktail dresses are some of my favorite things in life, and Emma Stone in Lanvin (above, left), Amber Lebon in Peter Pilotto (center), and Emma Watson in Notte by Marchesa (right) all wear it well! This is the second time I am featuring this blue Peter Pilotto on my blog because I love it so much! The color, the fit, the pattern, and the neckline make this so irresistibly chic!
For all that shimmers, shines, and sparkles in Hollywood; and these four women are perhaps the farthest from the overdone hollywood glam crowd, which is perhaps why I like them so much...Anne Hathaway (above, far left) genuinely looked like a movie star in body hugging Armani  evening-wear...Kate Middleton (inner left) went all out in this Jenny Packham sequin gown, as if she stepped right out of a fairy tale, a real dream! As always, Angelina Jolie (inner, right) is strong and serene in emerald Versace and Zoe Saldana (far right) takes a minimal shape up a notch in bright green Elie Saab...when it comes to glamour, Hollywood sure knows it's stuff...

To the best and the brightest,

-M. Gisele

DREAM ESTATE: STUDY SPACE

Pinned Image
Perhaps being a student is what draws me in most to pristine, creative, and comfortable offices, libraries, and workspaces...the best work is produced in a functional space and these featured go beyond being simply functional, but add in inspirational, serene, artistic and overwhelmingly chic, enjoy...

This office (pictured above) was designed by Kelly Wearstler and nothing short of glamourous, ornate, and perhaps a tad overdressed, yet absolutely beautiful...the only edit I would make would be larger windows, I love having sunlight pour in! The walls are spectacular, the dining rooms walls in my family home have the same paint and pattern, with a shimmer finish, just lovely!

Similar to the aforementioned space, this office has a strong theme, but is wonderful! If you love a style/print, own it! Red is not really my color, but the chinoiserie wallpaper is quite pretty...

This office is perfect for many reasons! First off, the paint on the walls is unique and inviting, the texture adds so much! Although the blue makes a big statement, the other colors are not competing; I could do without the curtain, since I am not a fan of yellow, but it still goes well with everything else. The red pouf is so cute! Just the perfect drop of color with the white desk and lucite chair...glamorous and eclectic, totally my style!

This office (above) is so overtly glamorous it kills me...a tad too luxe for my taste but I still appreciate the space's coherence..the gold details, beveled mirror, and zebra print all coordinate somehow and give the room some delicate beauty...talk about an overdose of glamour!

Sweet treats! All of these (above) were made with peppermint candy canes, pretty and delicious!

No celebration is final with out a good cocktail, the more festive, the better...and adding a candy cane to stir is so sweet!

HONORED STYLE: BACK TO BLACK

Pinned Image
[rooney mara via in style]
Although I am an over-advocate for more colorful wardrobes, I often go back to black...Perhaps it's when I doubt my style creativity, or just have no time, either way, Black is basic, Black is sophisticated, Black is intelligent, Black is mysterious and I believe everyone should return to it ever once in a while....So let' HONOR this STYLE...
Pinned Image
[rooney mara via people]

Rooney Mara, the new star of the novel series inspired, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie, will most likely be catapulted into big film franchise stardom and has yet to disappoint with her true to character fashion sense. Perhaps having to cut her hair short for the film inspired her to look a tad more serious, poised, and edgy then she was as Mark Zuckerberg's ex girlfriend, in The Social Network...

Both her Prabal Gurung semi sheer cocktail dress (above) and Roksanda Ilinicic jumpsuit (below) elicit a cautious, yet alluring sense of self, perhaps relating well to her character, either way she looks stunning and sharp in all black...

Feathers and feathers...I love them and I think since they are in black it looks less frivolous, it's just the right amount of glamour and elegance to avoid being tacky or overdone...
Pinned Image
[diane kruger in emilio pucci]
I LOVE everything about this look (above), the dress is beautiful, innovative and I want to wear it! You know you love someone's dress when you wish you were wearing it! Her hair is tied back, allowing the dress to stand out, just perfect...
Pinned Image
[olivia palermo via in style]
Stunning as always, Olivia Palermo rocks this mini Marchesa frock with grace, LBDs (little black dresses) should have some sparkle, perfect for the holidays or really any occasion, except weddings...

THE "M" LIST: HOLIDAZED

Pinned ImagePinned ImagePinned Image
This "M" list are some of my picks for holiday gifts this year...my motto when buying gifts is to get something for someone that they would not get for themselves, but might enjoy...hope this helps or inspires some HOLIDAZED cheer...
Pinned ImagePinned ImagePinned Image
I am sucker for pretty labeled beauty products and hair butter is certainly one I would never buy for myself but would love to have! Coffee table books are great for any home, v-neck sweaters are great, easy gifts for guys, as well as D&G cologne...such a nice bottle!

Pinned ImagePinned ImagePinned Image
A dear friend of mine starting making floral inspired statement necklaces and headbands, this blue one (pictured above) is so cute! Such a great accessory for Spring and perfect stocking stuffer!
Pinned ImagePinned ImagePinned Image
Ipad's are everywhere, and while I don't own one, I must say that seeing some of the cases alone, makes me kind of want one...these earrings would look great on any young lady and what home couldn't use a glamorous mirrored side table...
Pinned ImagePinned ImagePinned Image
Everyone loves wine right?? This coaster is simple and vintage-looking...I believe Harry Potter should be enjoyed by all generations and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was my favorite read of the entire series...The chalk board coffee mug is so cool! How sweet to leave a little message in the morning to your roommate, family, or significant other...
........
As a side nanny and babysitter I have some idea of the neat toys out there...having a red wagon is a must as child, the kids love it and it's a great work out for parents! Coloring is creative, fun, and easy for all ages...I absolutely love the Fancy Nancy series, Nancy is quirky and bold.. a wonderful role model for young girls...
....
Books, books, and books, not just for the coffee table but for inspiration, art and innovation...
Toms..
Toms look so comfy, the perfect casual shoe and since they give a pair when you buy a pair, it's double the gift! I know Nutella seems like a random gift to give someone, but just think how you would feel if it was your gift? You'd be happy, right?
..Melissa and Doug...
Cute gifts for kids! This mailbox, complete with funny themed letters, is adorable, I have played with it before with a special little friend, who happens to love mail...And who wouldn't want a new car, especially a vintage one...
....Candle Target
Sweet flask, loving the leather...some cozy socks are always a crowd pleaser, and candles are sweet...

Happy shopping...

-M. Gisele
